11 months!

Merry Christmas!

10 months and 36 years!

Yesterday Ever hit the 10 month mark and Daddy turned 36 years old! We celebrated with cupcakes and song. Happy Day you two!

Halloween 2010

So everyday for the past year Neko has dressed in some kind of costume. Some days she's a princess, other days she's a cat, and most days she's Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She wanted to be Dorothy again this year but when Halloween arrived she decided no way-no costume for her. So funny. So here she is with a couple of pals sans costume but still looking supercute. Ever and Mommy had a perfect relaxing evening at home as Mommy Neek is a grumpy holidayer.

Ever May: 8 months

First Haircut

Momma has been cutting Neko's hair for over a year now. It usually looks okay but definitely needs some extra TLC. So Neko finally agreed to have a real haircut today. The salon came equipped with these supercool retro cars for the kids to sit in, a cartoon that plays on the television in front of each chair, and it's located in the back of a toy store! What kid could decline that bribery!? Her stylist was fabulous but Neko wasn't impressed with all of the hooplah, as shown in her face in this first picture.

Our sweet Neko continues to dress herself for school. This outfit was particularly cute...especially the hair clips.

Soccer

First Day of Gymnastics

Neko didn't care for ballet. She decided on gymnastics this time. Here she is on her first day of class. She got to jump off a trampoline into a huge pit of foam blocks and crab walk (as seen here) across two giant crayons. Fun!

She's a Swan!

Today is Neko's first day back at school. She's still at the same parent co-op preschool and loves it. At age one she began her journey there as a Cat. Last year she was a Ladybug. And now at age three, she has graduated to the Swan's classroom. "I'm in the big kid class now."

Ever May: 7 Months

Today was also Ever's first trip to the zoo. She enjoys the train and carousel just like her big sis.

Haircut

Neko Fashion

One of Neko's favorite things to do is pick her outfits. We gave up trying to dress her a while ago. Now she changes her clothes many times a day and these ensembles usually consist of multiple layerings. We counted SEVEN tank tops not too long ago!


On this day it was 95 degrees outside.

Her new favorite thing is wearing mama's dresses.

Here she is wearing her apron and the infamous Dorothy costume (Her Halloween costume when she was two). The hole in the back of this dress gets larger by the day. We feel the highlight of this ensemble is her hair accessory...the yellow ring from Ever's stackable rings.

Theatre

Neko proudly attended her first play today. It was a production of Amazing Grace shown in a little theatre here in Atlanta and based on the book by Mary Hoffman. Neko's face was lit up the entire time. She absolutely loved it. And much to my surprise she remained fairly still and attentive the entire hour. Now she says she wants to act in a play too! Ever May was a wonder baby and gave not a peep as she was nestled in her Ergo.

Neko created another masterpiece with her Wiki Stix yesterday. She says the figure on the left is Mommy. The colorful blob/sticky pile on the right is Ever May.

Sleep, Wonderful Sleep.

After cosleeping with Mama Neek for six and a half months Ever May is now sleeping soundly in her very own crib and sharing a room with her big sister. Hopefully this is the end of her 6 month stretch of all night nursing sessions and sleep deprivation. Just as with Neko, once Ever got out of Mama's bed everyone slept way longer and more soundly. Night one: 7 hours without a peep. Night two: 8 hours. Night three: Please let it be 9! Good job sweetie pie. Sorry we didn't do this sooner.

4 Months

Ever May is four months old today. She remains a very chilled out little baby and continues to light up every time she hears her big sister's voice or sees her face. It's such a beautiful thing to watch. Oh...and her hair is still red!

Beach Week

The Kaplan clan joined together once again for a fabulous beach trip on the emerald coast. We managed to avoid the oil but know it won't be long before the beaches Mama Neek grew up on are changed forever. Grammy and Grampy Durham joined us for a few days too. It was so nice to have everyone together.
